What is the SCA
The SCA stands for the Simulated Consultation Assessment, which is a final exam for General Practitioner (GP) trainees in the UK. It is a remote, online exam that assesses a GP candidate's clinical, professional, and communication skills through a series of 12 simulated consultations, each lasting 12 minutes, to earn their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
Key features of the SCA
Format:
It consists of 12 simulated patient consultations, each with a 3-minute preparation time.

The exam is taken remotely from a local GP surgery, reflecting modern telemedicine practices.
Skills assessed:
It evaluates a candidate's ability to make sound clinical judgments, manage risk, be person-centered, and handle various clinical scenarios and professional dilemmas.
Evaluation:
Each consultation is recorded and marked by an independent examiner at a later date
About Us
Having arrived at the University of Birmingham in 1999, we began our journey as enthusiastic medical students, ready to take on the challenges and benefits of a career in medicine. Who could have predicted that more than twenty-five years later, we would be applying our knowledge and expertise to guide the future generation of General Practitioners (GPs)
Dr Eve Athey-Pollard MBChB (2004 University of Birmingham), MRCGP (2009), DRCOG, DCSFH
I have served as a GP Partner in the same practice for 15 years and have been a trainer for the past 12 years. I have provided tutorials and conducted practice SCA cases with our trainees. I was the Clinical Director of a Primary Care Network for 7 years. Currently, I lead cancer initiatives within the primary care network and oversee safeguarding and family planning.
Dr Amanda Kilpatrick MBChB (2004 University of Birmingham), MRCGP (2008), DCH, DRCOG
I have worked as a full-time GP Partner for over 10 years and am currently a 6 session salaried GP. I have been fortunate to support many GP trainees throughout their training. My practice hosts multiple GP trainees, and I participate in their Training, Supervision, Assessments, and Tutorials. I also lead initiatives in Menopause Care (holding the BMS Menopause certificate) and Women’s Health, and I operate a practice-based HRT clinic.
